It began life in 2002 as a flower show attended by a few thousand people. By 2013 – its final year – The Glasgow Show had grown into something akin to Disneyland, becoming the highlight of the city’s summer events schedule and attracting more than 70,000 visitors.

Held every year across “The Fair” holiday weekend, The Glasgow Show was a massive, family-based, outdoor, summertime party. Loosely retaining its horticultural show format, the Glasgow Green event grew many different arms and legs; it was a live music gig, a funfair, a country market, a festival of street theatre and children’s play, a livestock showcase and an arena show.
World-class equestrian acts, motorcycle stunt teams, freefall skydivers, death-defying escapologists and insane high-wire artists all performed in the main arena. Rick Astley, Darius, ABC, The Drifters, Olly Murs, Jedward, The Bay City Rollers and S-Club were just some of the many names that graced the main music stage. (Check out the slide show at the top of the page for a taste of what this event was really like.)
Zap! Entertainment’s Dougie Jackson hosted the event: “It was a first rate gig…truly one of a kind. You’d have the latest top 40 chart acts entertaining music fans in one half of the park while the petrol heads were being treated to a high-octane, monster truck joust at the other. Sandwiched in the middle…a mad, Swiss aerialist performing headstands on top of a 200-foot-high sway pole! Bonkers but totally brilliant – and all for a 20 quid, weekend-long, family ticket”
Zap! Entertainment was proud to be associated with the Glasgow Show during it’s highly successful 11-year run, producing various aspects of the event for GCC’s Land Services Dept. and supplying the talent for the main music stage.
